IMPORTASS
IMPORTASS is the official online portal of the Spanish Tesorería General de la Seguridad Social (TGSS). It is where individuals and companies manage their Seguridad Social affairs digitally: registering as autónomo, changing contribution brackets, accessing payment history, requesting certificates, registering family beneficiarios, and consulting your contributed years. The full URL is portal.seg-social.gob.es/wps/portal/importass/importass.
What you can do on IMPORTASS
Once you have your NIE and your Certificado Digital, you can use IMPORTASS to register as autónomo under RETA (the alta en el RETA), the mandatory first step for self employed work in Spain. You can also adjust your contribution bracket every two months (six adjustments per year) if your real income changes. You can register family members as beneficiarios for healthcare coverage, request a vida laboral certificate showing your full contribution history in Spain, set up or change your direct debit (domiciliacion), and view all your monthly contributions paid to date.
For S1 holders from other EU countries, IMPORTASS is also where the S1 form is registered with the INSS to activate healthcare access. For employees in the Régimen General, IMPORTASS is less critical day to day (your employer handles registration), but you can still use it to check your contributed years and download certificates.
How to access IMPORTASS
IMPORTASS requires authentication through either Certificado Digital or Cl@ve. For non Spanish nationals, Certificado Digital is the only reliable route, because Cl@ve verification via video does not support non Spanish ID documents. Once you have your Certificado Digital installed in your browser (Chrome or Firefox), accessing IMPORTASS is just a matter of logging in and selecting the service you need.
